Northey is interested in the portrayal of psychological elements of our existance and in subjects of mythology and spiritualism -experience and vision that can be justified as paranormal and can be explained in anomalistic psychology-for example the phenomenon of hallucination, hypnagogia and the pareidolic experience of experimenting with instumental transcommunication. The portraits are created with the use of analogue and digital image capture, undergoing experimental shooting and capturing techniques, using moving image and still image photography, resulting in the portraits or heads often crossing over into abstaction.
